Coupe du monde de football. The crunch : France vs England
And the comment of Sylvan, from Oxford, is : England vs France could potentially be the game of the World Cup. Whoever wins this game has a great chance of winning the whole thing. They are two of some of the best sides in the world, and have qualities in all areas of the pitch. Kylian Mbappé, France’s star man, is going to have a tough time against England’s Kyle Walker. Both players are known for their speed, and technical ability, so having Mbappé at left wing and Walker right back will certainly make for the best duel of the tournament. Me and my French friend, Symon have been talking about the game, and tossing about friendly insults about our respective teams. We are both confident in our teams, with me predicting a 2-1 win for England, and him predicting 3-1 for France. (COME ON ENGLANDDDDDDD) |
Sylvan from Oxford, the day after the defeat.
Wow… what a game… although I’m disappointed not the get the win, I am so proud of this England side. We were the better team throughout the whole match, as shown by the stats, and I really think we deserved to win. But, unfortunately, when it came down to it, France were just more clinical. I thought we were unlucky to miss the second penalty, and I thought the referee was shocking. There was a foul on Saka in the build up to the opening goal, which the referee never batted an eye to, and there was a blindingly obvious penalty on Kane that was overlooked. But football is football, and sometimes no matter how hard you battle, and how much you deserve to win, you won’t always walk away with the result you wanted. Needless to say I am immensely proud of this young England team, and can’t wait for them to mature and gel. When that happens, the World Cup will be well in sight.
