Peu le savent, mais depuis pr\u00e8s de six ans un noyer grenoblois a plant\u00e9 ses racines dans le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre jardin botanique d’Oxford. Symbole des liens entre nos deux villes, l’arbre a pass\u00e9 la fronti\u00e8re franco-britannique puis a \u00e9t\u00e9 plant\u00e9 dans le jardin le 2 juillet 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il s’agit d’un noyer commun, de son nom scientifique Juglans Regia<\/em>, de la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 Franquette. Il a pouss\u00e9 \u00e0 la P\u00e9pini\u00e8re Payre \u00e0 L’Albenc, pr\u00e8s de Grenoble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le plant de noyer fut offert en 2019 \u00e0 l’Alliance Grenoble-Oxford par Bruno de Montal, \u00e0 l’occasion de l’inauguration de l’arr\u00eat de tram “Oxford” en pr\u00e9sence de Matthew Lodge, Ambassadeur du Royaume-Uni aupr\u00e8s de l’UNESCO et Altaf Kahn, Vice-Maire d’Oxford. Nous f\u00eations alors les trente ans du jumelage !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il fut ensuite transport\u00e9 \u00e0 Oxford par Diana Bell, qui fut admise au sein de la Confr\u00e9rie de la Noix le 18 mai 2019 aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de Matthew Lodge et Altaf Kahn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puisse-t-il continuer \u00e0 grandir et, qui sait ? Produire un jour de belles noix pour les Oxfordiens !<\/p>\n\n\n\n
