Yet at the time, the rich and the poor, the educated and the illiterate, whatever their social class, flocked to see <em>Romeo and Juliet<\/em>, <em>Hamlet<\/em>, <em>Macbeth<\/em> and the other plays, without giving a second thought to the complexities of the text. I will argue that there is no reason for believing that today Shakespeare is only for the \u00e9lite. Shakespeare is for all!<\/p>\n<p>Depuis des si\u00e8cles, d\u2019innombrables sp\u00e9cialistes ont rempli d\u2019innombrables pages sur les textes de William Shakespeare (1564-1616), donnant ainsi l\u2019impression que les pi\u00e8ces ne sont pas \u00e0 la port\u00e9e du commun des mortels. Or, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, riches et pauvres, cultiv\u00e9s et illettr\u00e9s, tous les milieux sociaux se pressaient au th\u00e9\u00e2tre pour voir <em>Rom\u00e9o et Juliette<\/em>, <em>Hamlet<\/em>, <em>Macbeth<\/em> et les autres pi\u00e8ces sans ressentir le besoin de tout comprendre.
